Burial Board and amenities working group – 19th June 2025 at 6pm
Present: Cllr(s) Bannister, Mason, Walker and Donnellan.
Apologies: Cllr Firth and Cllr Waites.
1. Walk around of area to discuss any maintenance requirements
• 12 sunken graves need to be levelled
• 3 raised graves to be levelled
• 1Broken cross – clerk to notify family
• 2 graves with adornments in grass – clerk was asked to write to family
• The clerk is to write to families of scattered ashes plots to ask that only name plaques placed in this area are all other items to be removed.
• 1 ashes plot to be written to – request removal of adornments
• 1 dead tree in need of replacement to right of footpath the leading to chapel
• All tarmac path needs edging
• Trees to the left of the path and chapel need to be cut back so they can be walked under
• Trees to the right of the path and chapel need cutting back in line with hedge
• Ivy on trees in path needs cutting to allow more space for people to walk under
• Yew trees to be topped and levelled
• RAF to be contacted and request for Leylandii to be cut back to the left the ashes plot and to find out if council have access from that side
• ICCM to be contacted to see if the council can reuse older plots
• Clerk to seek local farmers help to remove excess soil from cemetery
• Area to be cornered off for safe storage of excess soil
• Clerk to write to all memorial masons to ask that they no longer leave waste concrete on site and they must take it away themselves
• Clerk to speak with community pay back to request general maintenance works
2. Visual inspection of chapel
• Fallen roof tiles need replacing – already in motion but updates needed
• Plinth on outside of building needs attention
3. To discuss current burial fees – (see sheet below – page 2)
• Fees to remain the same
4. War memorial, current and any proposed street furniture
• Request for a lightweight frame to be made to house wreaths around memorial base
• Bench from cemetery to be cleaned, varnished and moved to war memorial layby.
5. Recommendations for council
All of the above points to be recommended to the council.

NO side by side burials will be reserved all family burials will be double depth

All Double Depth Burials. Fees one “Exclusive Right of Burial” fee as listed; first burial in grave space, full interment fee, second burial reduced interment fee £200.00 parishioner, £600.00 non parishioner. Non parishioner ashes burial 1st @ full fee £900.00 2nd £450.00
Scattering of Ashes – Diamond Jubilee Garden - £80 one charge for all includes small nameplate and name recorded in a book of remembrance.
Please note Parishioner rates to be charged if the deceased person’s last home address was within Coningsby Parish (after having moved into care including care with a family member).
If after purchasing a reserved space whilst a parishioner - moved away and no longer owns property in the parish, burial fee would revert to non-resident charge after 5 years.
Memorials
KERBS ARE NOT ALLOWED
NO MEMORIAL TO BE PLACED IN THE CEMETERY WITH A HEIGHT OF ABOVE 3 FEET
Base sizes for single plots 3ft x 1ft 6in only – if two plots family with joint headstone 6ft x 1ft 6in
FEES FOR MEMORIALS
1. Flat Headstone not exceeding 1ft X 1ft; inset in turf. 120.00 300.00
2. Total height of memorial from ground not exceeding 3ft high 150.00 400.00
3. Any other memorial (as above) not exceeding 3ft 150.00 400.00
Ashes Memorials
1. Memorial Stone not exceeding 18” x 18” x 4” in depth. To be inset in stoned ashes area in allocated space. Inset in ground, maximum height including vases not to exceed height of the boundary kerbing 120.00 300.00
Additional Inscription no charge no charge
As from January 1982 no charge via the Town Council re- Fee for Church Ministers.
All headstone/monuments/plaques must be placed at the head of grave- on memorial; no memorials are permitted to be placed along the grave space. No temporary memorials permitted longer than 6 months.
All memorials must be securely fixed and stable. BRAMM standards required for fixing new or re fixing any memorials removed for additional inscription – these must be re sited at current standard.
