Chairman Cllr Amanda Bowens report.
Good evening everyone. My name for those who are unsure is Amanda Bowen and I have had the honour for the past year of being Chair to Coningsby Town Council.
Well what can I say; hitting the ground running in true style with our wonderful late Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations!
Handing out coins to the local primary schools and helping to organise and take part in events that involved to whole village. Including window displays, colouring competitions; a full weekend of events which saw us dancing the night away, having fun on a windy day at the Alan Barker with many other families raising awareness and much needed funds for local charities, with the help of the lions.
To slowing down for a lovely lunch delivered the W I on the Sunday. It’s wonderful to host events with both the council and local charities hand in hand, and we hope the village will support us again during the upcoming celebrations for our now King Charles in a few weeks time back on the Alan Barker for our Sunday Fun day.
Our relationship with RAF Coningsby is so important, and this took me to spend a beautiful evening with them. Getting to know them and sharing about our village is an important link between the two of us, as on many occasions we work side by side.
Keeping the village kept well and easy on the eye has brought the council this year to upgrade and re vamp our War Memorial, making the existing safe and incorporating new. I will say it did make me proud and humbled to lead the village in November, for the service which always sees and amazing turn out from all.
Dotted around the village you will also see large planters full of beautiful seasonal plants. This is no mean feat for our employees to maintain, but again so worth it and I for one would like to say a big thank you!
We are lucky to have some amazing spaces here in Coningsby for all to use. Play parks and equipment are regularly maintained by our team here at the council. The larger area the Allan Barker recreation ground sees a space that has multi uses. Our local football clubs both running and walking teams. Dance classes, and now adding to the list the council are supporting the opening up a youth club. DIVSS. A safe space for 11 to 19 year olds that will, what we hope fill the gap and encourage the right use of the facilities we have worked so hard to keep maintained for all to use.
I end by thanking you all for coming this evening and hope to see you all enjoying the fun day Sunday planned for the Kings celebration in a few weeks time, caterers have been booked for this one to allow for all the usual volunteers to enjoy the afternoon tea that is planned.
